Meet Our Priests

Fr Pat

Rev. Patrick Hoare:

Fr. Pat Hoare was born and raised in Willow Grove, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia.  His first years of education were in public school, but he attended grades 4-8 at Queen of Peace Catholic School, while active as an altar server at the parish.  He graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote, PA, and was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from LaSalle University in Philadelphia in 1988.  While at the start of his career as an commercial insurance underwriter at Liberty Mutual, he was awarded his MBA from Drexel University in 1992.  He also earned his designation as a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) in 1996.  As a young adult, he volunteered in high school youth ministry in the parish he had attended as a child.

Fr. Pat moved to Charlotte, NC as the result of a job transfer in 1994.  He continued his involvement in Youth Ministry, which he credits as planting the seeds of his future vocation.  In 2001, he accepted a position as Vice President of Underwriting for Montgomery Insurance (a Liberty Mutual subsidiary) and moved to the Baltimore area. He resigned his position in July, 2002 upon acceptance into the seminary for the Diocese of Charlotte.

Fr. Pat completed seminary studies at St. Charles Borromeo Theological Seminary, receiving a Master of Divinity degree in 2006 and a Master of Arts in Theology in 2007.  Ordained a priest in 2007, he served as Parochial Vicar at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville until 2009.  On July 7, 2009, he was appointed Pastor of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Charlotte.  As St. John Neumann was the 4th bishop of Philadelphia, it is no accident that Fr. Pat is pastor of a parish under his patronage.  Fr. Pat is an avid reader and admits to succumbing to occasional binge-watching on Netflix.  He is also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles, which also serves as a lifelong penance.  He also loves to travel and cherishes his family, and considers his lifelong friendships to be among his greatest blessings.
