Becoming Catholic

Interested in Becoming Catholic?
We invite you to our RCIA classes!

Jesus Baptized

Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands are baptized into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops)

RCIA is the process in which adults become full, participating members of the Catholic Church. Participants, known as catechumens go through a process of studying the Gospel, nurturing their relationship with God, becoming familiar with the Catholic teachings and practices, professing their faith in Jesus and the Church, and receiving the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation.

The Church extends an invitation to all who wish to become members of the Catholic faith. Those who go through the RCIA process fall under one of the following categories:

  • Someone who is of another faith or non-Christian and wishes to convert to Catholicism
  • Someone who was baptized in another Christian denomination and wishes to become a member of the Catholic faith
  • Someone who was baptized in the Catholic Church, but never received the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation

Each year in September, St. John Neumann begins a new RCIA journey, and we invite everyone to participate who feels their faith journey is leading them to the Catholic Church or who are curious to understand the teachings and customs of Catholic Christianity.

We meet Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm and also have some special celebrations along the way. Calendar
