Collection for the Archdiocese for

the Military Services

November 10 - Week of the Collection

Next weekend our parish will take up the Collection for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS).  Established by Pope John Paul II in 1985, the AMS is the only U.S. diocese responsible for providing pastoral care to men and women serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, enrolled at a U.S. Military Academy, being treated as a patient at any of the 153 U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, or working for the federal government beyond U.S. borders - including those from our own parish and diocese.  AMS priests and deacons serve approximately 1.8 million Catholics who hail from 50 states and U.S. territories.  While the salaries and retirement of Catholic military chaplains are paid for by the U.S. Government, the AMS does not receive any funding from the government or military for program and administrative costs.

To learn more about the AMS, go to www.milarch.org/nationalcollection

Please give generously.

Virtus

Safe Environment!

To all of our wonderful SJN Volunteers:

Child sexual abuse is a worldwide public issue.  Child abuse, particularly child sexual abuse, is reprehensible – especially when the wrongdoer is affiliated with the church.  Protecting God’s Children Workshop (VIRTUS) program assists the church in being a safe haven for children and a messenger for preventing child sexual abuse within the church and society in general.  The Diocese of Charlotte’s new policy is that all volunteers must complete a background check as well as attend a Protecting God’s Children (VIRTUS) workshop.

Thank you, to all who have already completed a background check and have attended a

Protecting God’s Children Workshop (VIRTUS).

To complete a background check or register for a workshop please go to www.virtusonline.org and follow the easy instructions.

If you are unsure whether you have completed either the background check or workshop, please contact Carolyn at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or contact the parish office.
